Water-rock interaction and applied isotope geochemistry serve as fundamental cornerstones in safeguarding sustainable utilization of groundwater, energy, and other critical resources, while simultaneously exerting a profound impact on diverse domains, including but not limited to oil and gas exploration and production, geothermal energy harnessing, CO2 capture and storage, and beyond. Their pivotal role not only fosters the socio-economic development but also underscores their critical relevance to addressing contemporary environmental challenges worldwide.
With a global perspective, the 19th International Symposium on Water-Rock Interaction and the 16th International Symposium on Applied Isotope Geochemistry (WRI-19/AIG-16 (IAGC-4)) will take place in the city of Beijing, China, June 20-25, 2027, and is affiliated by the Committee of International Association of Geochemistry. Known as WRI-19/AIG-16 (IAGC-4), the conference currently features 27 parallel sessions covering a wide range of topics, including geothermal and groundwater resources, water quality and human health, carbon sequestration and petroleum systems, deep fluid‑rock interactions, Critical Zone hydrology, biogeochemistry cycling, isotope tracers for water and air contaminants, advanced methods, modeling and AI technologies in WRI study, and WRI under global change and sustainable development.
We sincerely invite scholars around the world to participate in this conference to promote innovation and leapfrog development in water-rock interactions and isotope geochemistry, foster academic exchanges and collaborations, and contribute to sustainable development together.
